Radar: GIT Award Launch

It’s been a boss year for music in Liverpool. From the first GIT Award ceremony to FestEvol, Fiesta Bombardas in bombed out churches to 100 guitarists in still-intact cathedrals. It’s all been good. So it’s great to see the cycle continue with the launch of next year’s GIT Award, next week.

Peter Guy’s Getintothis blog continues to champion the music that, by and large, we’d do well to listen to, and the Award gained hat tips from the NME and BBC amongst others. So it’s good to see that they’re back (with a launch next week featuring Esco Williams, Ninetails - video below - and Loved Ones.)

“I want the prize to appeal to everyone from bedroom musicians to those with record deals, all we’re asking is for Merseyside musicians to send us their four tracks and who knows who will make the shortlist this year,” Guy says of next year’s gong.

“Esco Williams is a fine example of what the GIT Award aims to do; champion new Liverpool music. Esco went from promising performer to capturing the national media’s attention. His story is mirrored by many of last year’s nominees. Let’s hope this year’s GIT Award finds a few more hidden gems.”
